Sunday was... a day. And we had... a moment.
We were taking a nappy/snuggly break from watching back-to-back episodes of Breaking Bad, and discussed a couple of invites we have to go out on the 23rd of March. Well, that's the night before our Choir Cantata and that isn't an easy night for me to be willing to go out. Let's be realistic, I don't really LIKE to go OUT anyway - I just make myself and usually have a great time when I do. But, I had a very valid excuse. Cantata day is an EARLY day, that our voices/noses/eyes/bodies need to be rested up for.
John wasn't thrilled with the idea of not being able to do both things. Go out the night before and sing the next morning.
The more we talked about it, we got down to the source of his not wanting to turn down invitations to go out... he never got invitations as a kid. He knew there were always kids hanging out together and he was never a part of the group. Now, I say kid, but it could very well have been young adult/college even.
I don't know why, but I felt the need to make him say it. Say that he won't ever be alone, for the rest of his life. And while there were many tears shed - we got down to this, an affirmation for the rest of our lives:
This is hanging on the inside of our door to the apartment - so we can't help but see it before we leave for the day.
I'd like to think that if/when we renew our vows, these words would be part of them.
Love you honey. For the rest of my life.

This made me happy . . . and sad, all at the same time, and for reasons I cannot post on here. Love you, and am proud of you both!
